Treatment

Whenever people come to see me I like to get to know them. We talk about why they have come and try to make sense of what has been going on. After taking a detailed family history or history of the development of the problem, I usually propose a strategy for dealing with the problems presented and may even suggest how many sessions will be needed.

If however, as we work together, I come to realise that a person is coming because there are long-term therapy needs I let them know that a psychotherapy approach will be needed to effect major change.

At the core of all long-term therapy is a deep and growing trust between therapist and client.

I primarily see my role as providing a place of loving support and stillness while my client explores, discovers and grows. As my clients learn to achieve stillness and openness, their denied memories, fears and even physical issues bubble to the surface and their work becomes very subtle and powerful.

The following are the seven most popular and best read books that I recommend.

  • “The Road Less Travelled” by M. Scott Peck
  • “Love the Life You Live” by Anne Hartley
  • “Getting the Love You Want” by Harville Hendrix
  • “The Feel the Fear Guide to Lasting Love” by Susan Jeffers
  • “Full Catastrophe Living” by Jon Kabat-Zinn
  • “Your Sacred Self” by Wayne Dyer
  • “Loves Executioner” By Irvin D. Yalom
